Description

A delicious Italian dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone filling.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons non-alcoholic coffee syrup or extra strong coffee (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped (optional, for dipping)
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream (optional, if using chocolate for dipping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Dip ladyfingers in cooled espresso or strong coffee quickly and arrange them in a single layer in a serving dish.
  3. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.
  4. Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  5. Dust the top with cocoa powder and chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
  6. If using, melt dark chocolate and mix in heavy cream, then drizzle over the dessert before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the coffee syrup to taste for desired sweetness.
  • For a firmer texture, chill the dessert overnight.
