Description

A creamy dip made with caramelized onions, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium sweet onions
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Dice the onions into a medium dice.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until they start to soften, then turn the heat down to medium-low.
  3. Cook the onions, stirring often, until they are a deep golden brown. If they start to stick or if it looks like they are drying out, add a splash of water. Once caramelized, (this will take about 45 minutes), remove from the heat.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix to combine.
  5. Add the caramelized onions and stir to combine. Taste, and add salt and pepper, to taste.
  6. You can serve the dip right away, but I like to refrigerate it for about 30 minutes to let it set up slightly.

Notes

  • Refrigerating the dip helps enhance the flavors.
  • This dip pairs well with crackers, chips, or vegetables.
