Description
Delicious crispy fried shrimp, perfect for appetizers or a main dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Fresh cilantro or parsley (for garnish)
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper if using.
- Toss the shrimp in the dry mixture until evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Ensure the oil is hot enough by testing with a small piece of batter; it should bubble.
- Carefully add the coated shrimp to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Once all shrimp are cooked, toss them in a bowl with fresh chopped cilantro or parsley.
- Plate the crispy shrimp and garnish with lemon wedges for squeezing over the top.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve the desired crispiness.
- For extra flavor, marinate the shrimp in the dry mix for a few minutes before coating.
